Let Holy City Walks take you on a guided journey down the streets of Historic Charleston, South Carolina. More than just dates and facts, you will hear the true and fascinating stories behind the events that make up Charleston’s history. During the approximately 90 minute guided history tour, Discover Charleston!, your fearless tour guide will bring history alive while on a 1.5 mile route through the French Quarter and South of Broad Street. Among the many beautiful sights on this walk, you will see Rainbow Row, White Point Gardens, St. Phillip’s Church, St. Michael’s Church, beautiful mansions on the Battery, the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, and the Old Slave Mart Museum. You will hear stories of the courageous struggles and resilience of the early people of Charleston, including some famous American heroes and notorious villains, as they faced pirates, wars, sieges, fires, earthquakes, and hurricanes.
Americas Most Haunted City!
Holy City Walks is the best way to view the haunted city at night. On Real Hauntings of Charleston, you will hear the terrifying and true stories of pirates, murders, and many other supernatural occurrences. During this approximately 90 minute tour, your guide will take you on a 1 mile stroll down Charleston’s haunted streets and past dungeons, centuries old graveyards, alleyways, churches and restaurants, all with true and terrifying stories. As the moon rises over Charleston, Holy City Walks offers you the unique experience among Charleston ghost tours by limiting the size of the tour to only 10 people (more are possible if a single party requests all spaces.) Parks, Gardens, Architecture and More!
A walk through Charleston takes you through some of the most beautiful parks in the South. Palmettos, Live Oaks and Crepe Myrtles line the streets and parks of the peninsula, while Azaleas, Jasmine, and Wisteria peek through the gardens of the mansions on Meeting Street. Among all the flowers and window boxes are some of the best preserved examples of Colonial, Georgian, Federal, Revival, and Victorian architecture, and all can be seen in a short stroll.
Meeting Information
Please meet your guide at 122 East Bay Street. It is located on the north end of the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon in the shady area under a large Oak Tree. Please note that due to tour schedules and for the courtesy of others in the group, tours will leave promptly as scheduled.
Parking can be found a block away at the East Bay Garage at 25 Prioleau Street. We strongly encourage you to use the restroom before arriving, public restrooms are available in the East Bay Garage.
Please arrive 10 minutes early as to ensure you are checked in and the tour starts on time. The tour will conclude close to the meeting area.
Tours will operate rain or shine; however, they may be postponed in the event of dangerous weather.
Please wear comfortable shoes and bring water. It is highly recommended to wear sun screen in summer months.
